The Arrival of the ANIMALS

You may be wondering why this ancient oriental system uses animals for the signs. According to Chinese legend, thousands of years ago Buddha decided that the Chinese nation needed reorganization, so he called all the animals together for a meeting. However, only Twelve Animals came to the meeting. The first to arrive was the Rat, then the Ox, followed by the Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and finally the Pig. The Buddha honored these animals in the order in which they arrived by naming a year after each animal. The people who are born during a particular animal's year are said to inherit some of that animal's nature and disposition. Certainly, this likeness should not be taken literally, however, if you examine your own character, as well as the personality of friends and family members, you will be surprised by the similarities between people and their Chinese Animal Sign. Oxen tend to be hard working, Dragons are considered lucky, Tigers are strong, Snakes usually have an innate wisdom, Dogs are known for their strong loyalty, Etc.
